Access Denied error when connecting to a share name like C: on Windows XP

You need to be an Administrator to access some shares. To be more precise, the user you connect with in FileBrowser has to be a member of the Administrators group. You can edit the Users and Groups on your workstation like this:

  1. Right-click the 'My Computer' icon.
  2. Select the 'Manage' option.
  3. Find the 'Local Users and Groups' section and click it.
  4. Click 'Groups' and then 'Administrators'.
  5. Click 'Add...' and enter the user name, then click 'OK'.

However, the easiest way to access these shares is to connect as the 'Administrator' user itself.

You should make sure that the Administrator account has a good password to make it secure.
